John Ooi founder and President of Unique Construction Consultant is a highly respected individual in the field of Civil Engineering and construction consulting. He has over 20 years of engineering and management experience and he is well versed from conceptualization of a project to the completion. He began his professional career in Malaysia where he is instrumental in managing and completing the West Port Klang Phase II, Malaysia’s largest port development. A key figure in helping Infineon (Germany) establishing it’s first FAB plant in South East Asia as well as a major milestone for Peninsular Malaysia to be the location of the 1^st FAB facility.

Ever the visionary, John expanded his horizon and moved to China where he partnered with many multi-national companies such as BLUM, EMS-Chemie, LNS and Ashland and 2010, he and his team was called upon to manage the development of UK Pavilion for the world expo in Shanghai which was one of the highlights in John’s illustrious career. Since 2011, Unique under John’s leadership has grown from strength to strength evidence by the many partnership that was establish, such as Abbott (USA), Jungheinrich (Germany), Brose (Germany), Treffert (Germany), Value Retail Shanghai (UK) and Disney (USA).

John’s unique strength lies in the ability to bridge the cultural difference between the east and the west. He spent most of his formative years in USA before graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. Fluent in both English and Chinese, John is able to connect the dots and navigate through the unspoken difference. He is the current vice-chairman of Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Shanghai Chapter) and is a member of both Board of Engineers and Institute of Engineers of Malaysia since 1994.
